Our
Mission:
The 2nd
Annual Pet Expo presented by Happy Paws and
Friends is the leading indoor consumer pet show
in Nevada and focuses on connecting the pet owner, pet experts,
and pet service providers in an educational and festive setting
that promotes quality care of pets.
Additionally, Happy Paws and Friends
wants to promote the understanding that pets are not
possessions; they are part of the family. As such, a
portion of the proceeds from admissions to the Pet Expo are
donated to a number of animal rescue organizations and shelters
throughout the Valley.
The 2nd Annual Pet Expo
presented by Happy Paws and Friends is an
indoor consumer Christmas Shopping and
informational event at Cashman Center, so please leave
your much-loved pets at home ... But don't
worry there is so much to see and do at the show,
we guarantee you'll love it...plus you don't want to spoil
the surprise when you give those presents you purchased at
the show to your pet(s) for Christmas!
History:
Happy Paws and Friends was founded
by Nancy Murphy-Rodgers in 2007, and the first Expo was held in
Las Vegas in February, 2008.
Nancy is a former high school and
college English teacher who became seriously ill five years
ago. Her long and slow recovery was aided by the loyal
friendship of her Siberian husky, Frankie. “For three
months, this dog never left my bedside. Frankie made me
smile, even when smiling was not an easy thing to do,” says
Nancy.
When she returned to health, Nancy
was determined to forge ahead with a new endeavor.
Inspired by Frankie and her love for animals, knowledgeable as
a longtime attendee of boat shows and possessing a savvy
business sense, Nancy embarked upon creating the Happy Paws and
Friends Pet Expo.
“This is not your typical consumer
show,” she is quick to point out. “I want the attendee to
truly experience the event, not just meander up and down a few
aisles of cloth-covered booths, but to have fun in a festive
and family-friendly feel.”
But Nancy’s strongest motivation for
founding the Pet Expo was her concern for pets.
“According to statistics, between six and eight million pets
enter shelters every year and three and four million of those
pets are euthanized,” she says. “After their loyalty,
they do not deserve this fate.” And so she has designated
that a portion of the admission proceeds to be directed to
organizations and agencies sheltering and rescuing pets.
Additionally, in recognition of the
incredible contributions of those who serve their community and
country, free admission to the Expo is provided to all military
and their families, all police officers and firefighters and
all Clark County School District teachers.
The 2nd Annual Pet Expo presented by
Happy Paws and Friends is
November 22 & 23, 2008 - Saturday and Sunday, from 10:00am
to 5:30pm each day,
at the Cashman Center in Las Vegas!
